Limassol is the busiest wedding region on the island and the one with the widest range of venues — a dense strip of beachfront hotels, a marina, and within half an hour’s drive inland, stone wine villages that look nothing like the coast. More of my work happens here than anywhere except Paphos.
Limassol venues I have photographed
Along the seafront I have worked at the Four Seasons Hotel, Amathus Beach Hotel, Parklane Resort & Spa, St. Raphael Resort & Marina, Grand Resort, Mediterranean Beach Hotel, Royal Apollonia, Elias Beach Hotel, Poseidonia Beach Hotel, Atlantica Miramare, Curium Palace and Alasia Hotel.
West of the city toward Pissouri, both Columbia Beach Resort and Columbia Beach Hotel sit on Pissouri Bay, far enough out of Limassol to feel like a different kind of day entirely. Inland, Lofou and Omodos are stone villages in the wine country, and Kolossi Castle gives you a genuine medieval building rather than a hotel function room.
How the light works on the south coast
Limassol faces south, and this matters more than couples realise. Unlike the west coast, the sun does not set into the sea in front of you — it tracks along the coastline and drops to your right as you face the water. The practical consequence is that the warm light late in the day arrives across the beach at a low side angle rather than head on, which is superb for portraits along the shoreline but means a ceremony set up facing straight out to sea will not have the sunset behind it that people imagine.
It is worth walking your ceremony spot with me beforehand if you can. Which way the chairs face is a decision that takes two minutes to make and cannot be undone on the day, and at several of the seafront hotels rotating the setup by a few degrees is the difference between backlit and flat.
Inland at Lofou or Omodos the light goes early. Those villages sit among hills, so the sun disappears behind high ground well before it technically sets, and the usable golden light ends sooner than the timings on your schedule suggest. I plan portraits earlier at village venues for exactly this reason.
Logistics worth knowing
Limassol is the most convenient region on the island for guests: roughly forty five minutes from Larnaca airport and about an hour from Paphos airport, so you can draw from both. The city itself is genuinely walkable in the old town and around the marina, which matters if your guests are staying across several hotels rather than all at the venue.
The seafront strip is busy in high season. A beach ceremony at one of the central hotels will have members of the public within sight, and while that is rarely a problem it is worth knowing rather than discovering. Venues further west toward Pissouri, or inland to the villages, are considerably more private.
If you are planning to move between a village church and a coastal reception, build in more travel time than the map suggests. The mountain roads inland from Limassol are slower than their distance implies, particularly with a convoy of guests following.
